Collins Statement on the Coast Guard's Search for Crew of El Faro

WASHINGTON, D.C.—U.S. Senator Susan Collins released the following statement regarding the Coast Guard's ongoing search for the crew of the commercial ship El Faro, four of whom are believed to be from Maine:

“This afternoon, I received a briefing from Rear Admiral Scott A. Bushman, the Commander of the Seventh Coast Guard District headquartered in Miami, Florida, who is overseeing the search for the crew of the commercial ship, El Faro. I know the members of the Coast Guard, assisted by assets from the Navy and the Air Force, are doing everything humanly possible to locate any survivors of this tragic accident. No one is better than the brave men and women of the Coast Guard at conducting these kinds of searches,”said Senator Susan Collins. “My heart goes out to the family members, some of whom I know well, and also to the Maine Maritime Academy community, as they await news about their loved ones.”
