SNOWE, COLLINS ANNOUNCE MORE THAN $400,000 IN HEALTH AND HUMAN SERVICE GRANTS FOR MAINE

WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Senators Olympia Snowe (R-ME) and Susan Collins (R-ME) announced today that Maine has been awarded $414,777 in grants from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.

"These grants ensure that Maine facilities have the resources necessary to remain leaders in the medical community," Senators Snowe and Collins said in a joint statement.

The federal funding was allocated as follows:

-- $365,625 to the Mount Desert Island Biological Lab for the research of cell and molecular biology of marine elasmobranchs.

-- $49,152 to the Regional Medical Center at Lubec for Ryan White Title III HIV capacity development and planning.
