SNOWE, COLLINS ANNOUNCE MORE THAN $375,000 TO IMPROVE SNOW REMOVAL AT NORTHERN AROOSTOOK REGIONAL AIRPORT

WASHINGTON, D.C.—Senators Olympia J. Snowe and Susan Collins today announced that the Federal Aviation Administration has awarded the Northern Aroostook Regional Airport Authority a grant in the amount of $375,250 to aid with the acquisition of equipment that will help improve the airport’s snow removal process.               “It is important to maintain a safe operational environment at the Northern Aroostook Regional Airport year-round,” said Senators Snowe and Collins in a joint statement.  “This funding from the Department of Transportation will enhance the efficiency of snow removal from the airport’s runways, providing a safe operational environment and reducing the potential for aircraft accidents.”               The Department of Transportation (DOT) aims to improve safety, increase mobility in support of the nation's economy, protect human and natural environment, achieve organizational excellence, and support the national security strategy.
