WASHINGTON, D.C.— U.S. Senators Olympia Snowe (R-ME) and Susan Collins (R-ME) today announced that the U.S. Economic Development Administration has awarded $100,000 to the University of Southern Maine to Provide management and technical assistance to Maine Economic Development organizations in an effort to stimulate Maine's economy.
“This funding from the Economic Development Administration works to create jobs and then keep them here in the state of Maine,” said Senators Snowe and Collins in a joint statement.
The Economic Development Administration (EDA) works to generate jobs, help retain existing jobs, and stimulate industrial and commercial growth in economically distressed areas of the United States. EDA assistance is available to rural and urban areas of the Nation experiencing high unemployment, low income, or other severe economic distress.
