SNOWE AND COLLINS ANNOUNCE MORE THAN $2 MILLION FOR NORTHERN MAINE RESTAURANT & BREWING COMPANY

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Senators Olympia Snowe and Susan Collins announced today that Northern Maine Restaurant & Brewing Company in Presque Isle will receive a guaranteed loan of $2,400,000 from the United States Department of Agricultures' office of Rural Development. The loan will help to construct a new building on Maysville Road that will house a new restaurant and brewpub.

"The founders of this new restaurant estimate it will create 35 new jobs in the first twelve months," said the Senators in a joint statement. "This investment will provide much needed economic development for the area, and the resulting space will be a great new place for the community to enjoy."

The funds will be used to assist in building construction, improvements, and fixtures for the 22,613 square foot restaurant, brewpub, and banquet facility to be known as Slopes. Seating will accommodate up to 150 in the brewpub, 250 in the restaurant, and 350 in the banquet area. The banquet area will consist of five individual rooms, including two small conference rooms.
