SNOWE AND COLLINS ANNOUNCE $400,000 YOUTHBUILD IMPLEMENTATION GRANT TO COASTAL ENTERPRISES, INC.

WASHINGTON, D.C. - U.S. Senators Olympia Snowe and Susan Collins announced today that Coastal Enterprises, Inc., based in Wiscasset, will receive $400,000 in Youthbuild Implementation Grant funding from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development.

"Youthbuild is a comprehensive program that benefits both the communities that are assisted, and the participating youth who have the chance to develop leadership and construction skills," said Senators Snowe and Collins in a joint statement.

The mission of Youthbuild is to create and sustain a broad-based national movement in support of policies and programs which enable young people to assume leadership in order to rebuild their communities and lead responsible lives.

The funding will be used in the rehabilitation of eight homes. The program will provide a comprehensive and integrated effort to increase the academic, leadership, and vocational skill level of trainees who participate in this project.
