U.S. Senator Olympia J. Snowe and U.S. Senator Susan Collins today announced that the Maine Department of Resources will receive a grant of $330,321 from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA). The funding will be used to continue the Maine-New Hampshire Inshore Bottom Trawl Survey.
“We are pleased to announce this NOAA funding for the Maine-New Hampshire Inshore Trawl Survey,” noted Senators Snowe and Collins in a joint statement. “These surveys provide critical information on the state of the Gulf of Maine fisheries.”
The Maine-New Hampshire Inshore Bottom Trawl Survey is a fishery independent survey conducted in the spring and fall to complement the surveys of the National Marine Fisheries Service. This season’s survey will consist of approximately 115 tows in the Gulf of Maine.
