Senator Collins’ Statement on Passing of Ash Carter
Washington, D.C.—U.S. Senator Susan Collins issued the following statement on the passing of Ashton B. Carter, who served as the 25th Secretary of Defense:
“Former Secretary of Defense Ash Carter served our country with distinction and integrity. During his time at the Pentagon, he was a strong advocate for the brave men and women of our armed forces, and he led many initiatives to enhance our military’s effectiveness.
“Ash also made numerous contributions in academia and drew on his extensive expertise to prepare the next generation of leaders. America is grateful for his lifetime of service, and he will be missed.”
