SENATOR COLLINS TO BE KEYNOTE SPEAKER AT JOHN BAPST MEMORIAL HIGH SCHOOL GRADUATION

Washington, D.C. -– Senator Susan Collins will give the keynote address at this year's commencement ceremony at John Bapst Memorial High School in Bangor. The graduation ceremony is scheduled to take place on Sunday, June 6, 2004 at 3:00pm in the auditorium of the school at 100 Broadway. There will be 109 students graduating this year.

"I am so honored to be invited to speak to the John Bapst students on one of the most important days of their lives. I always find graduations to be so inspiring and so full of hope, because they represent a moment for the students when anything is possible," said Senator Collins. "I like to tell graduates to see the world, enjoy new experiences, and meet new people. I also urge them to then come back to Maine and use the wisdom and insight they have gained to give back to the state that has given them so much."

Senator Collins was invited to speak at the graduation ceremony, following a meeting she had with a John Bapst student, Meghan Simonds. Simonds met the Senator when she was on Capitol Hill, during the National Young Leaders Conference in Washington, DC.
