Oakland, ME— U.S. Senator Susan Collins attended Messalonskee Middle School’s Veterans Appreciation Ceremony in Oakland this morning. Senator Collins delivered remarks at the ceremony, which also included student presentations and music honoring veterans’ service.

“Messalonskee Middle School has a great Veterans Day tradition of honoring the men and women who serve our county, and I am delighted to join you today,” Senator Collins told the audience of approximately 500 students, veterans, parents, faculty, and staff who attended the event.

“Throughout our nation’s history, ordinary citizens have left the safety of home to preserve our freedom and to extend the blessings of freedom to others,” Senator Collins continued. “This assembly is a wonderful opportunity to express our gratitude. You will never be forgotten. Your service will always be honored.”
