Collins, King Announce $9,458,354 for the Maine Department of Health and Human Services

WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Senators Susan Collins and Angus King announced today that the Maine Department of Health and Human Services will receive a total of $9,458,354 through the Department of Justice Crime Victims Fund to enhance crime victim services in Maine.

“This investment will allow Maine’s crime victim assistance organizations to enhance the vital programs and services they provide,” said Senators Collins and King in a joint statement.  “By ensuring that victims have the support and resources they need in the aftermath of a crime, this funding will help victims recover more successfully.”

The grant is being awarded by the Department of Justice’s Office for Victims of Crime. Victims of Crime Act assistance funds are typically competitively awarded by the state to local community-based organizations that provide direct services to crime victims.
