Senate Aging Committee Members Led by Collins, Casey Call on HHS to Protect Older Adults from Coronavirus

Washington, D.C.—Following the confirmation of community transmission of the coronavirus—known as COVID-19—in the United States, U.S. Senators Susan Collins (R-ME) and Bob Casey (D-PA), the Chairman and Ranking Member of the Aging Committee, led a letter urging the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) to take action to protect seniors from the virus. 


SCAM ALERT: New Tactic Used By Social Security Scammers

Washington, D.C. — U.S. Senator Susan Collins, the Chairman of the Aging Committee, is warning of a new tactic used by Social Security scammers.  According to the Social Security Administration (SSA) Office of Inspector (OIG), individuals have reported receiving text messages on personal cell phones that appear to be coming from SSA.  The texts warn about a problem with victims’ Social Security numbers and threaten legal action unless the recipients call to resolve the issue.


DHS to Issue 35,000 Additional H-2B Visas to Support Small Businesses

Washington, D.C. — The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) announced today that an additional 35,000 H-2B visas will be made available to employers across the country to fill seasonal jobs – an increase of 5,000 compared to the additional visas allotted last year – for returning workers awarded a seasonal visa in at least one of the last three fiscal years.
