Washington, D.C. – U.S. Senators Susan Collins (R-ME) and Sherrod Brown (D-OH) introduced a bipartisan bill that would improve access to care for diabetic patients who require therapeutic shoes called the Promoting Access to Diabetic Shoes Act. Diabetes can be a serious disease that can sometimes lead to health complications including the amputation of toes, feet, or legs.

Senators Collins, King Announce $100,000 in Funding for Healthy Community Coalition of Greater Franklin County

WASHINGTON D.C. – U.S. Senators Susan Collins (R-Maine) and Angus King (I-Maine) announced today that the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services has awarded Healthy Community Coalition of Greater Franklin County (HCC) a grant of $100,000. The Department’s Health Resources & Services Administration (HRSA) will provide the funding through its Rural Health Network Planning Grant Program, which promotes the planning and development of health care networks in order to increase efficiency, improve care and strengthen the rural health care system as a whole.

On Flag Day, Senators Collins and Brown Introduce Bipartisan Bill Requiring Federal Government to Buy U.S. Made America Flags

Washington, D.C. - To mark Flag Day today, U.S. Senators Susan Collins (R-ME) and Sherrod Brown (D-OH) introduced legislation that requires the federal government to only buy flags that are American made.  The federal government is currently required to purchase flags made from only 50 percent American-made materials. The All-American Flag Act would require the government to buy flags that are produced entirely with American-made materials and are manufactured in the U.S.
