Senators Collins, King Announce $700,000 to the Greater Portland Council of Governments and the University of Maine System Amid COVID-19

Washington, D.C. – U.S. Senators Susan Collins and Angus King announced that the Greater Portland Council of Governments (GPCOG) and the University of Maine System has been awarded a total of $700,000 to redevelop and revitalize Maine’s economy in the midst of the coronavirus pandemic.  This funding was awarded through the Economic Development Administration’s (EDA) CARES Act Recovery Assistance Program.

Senator Collins Announces Nearly $17 Million to Improve Maine K-12 Education During Pandemic

Washington, D.C. — U.S. Senator Susan Collins, a member of the Education and Appropriations Committees, announced today that Maine will receive a total of $16,958,613 through the CARES Act to create new, innovative ways to better serve K-12 students during the COVID-19 pandemic.  The U.S. Department of Education contacted Senator Collins this morning to notify her that this grant, which Senator Collins strongly advocated for, was approved.

Collins, King, Golden Announce $300,000 Awarded for Brownfields Assessment in Franklin, Oxford, and Androscoggin Counties

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, U.S. Senators Susan Collins (R-Maine), Angus King (I-Maine), and Representative Jared Golden (D-Maine) announced that the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has awarded $300,000 to the Androscoggin Valley Council of Governments (AVCOG) to conduct brownfields assessments, develop cleanup plans, and support community outreach in Western Maine. Target areas for this project include sites in the cities of Lewiston and Auburn, and the towns of Rumford and Wilton.

Nearly $9.5 Million in COVID-19 Financial Relief has been Awarded to Maine Farmers

Washington, D.C. – U.S. Senator Susan Collins announced today that Maine farmers have been awarded a total of $9,472,586 to date to help offset the financial harm they have experienced due to COVID-19.  The funding is provided through the Coronavirus Food Assistance Program (CFAP), created through the CARES Act, which will provide up to $16 billion in direct payments to deliver relief to America’s farmers.

Collins, Sinema Introduce Bipartisan Bill to Provide Federal Support for National Child Abuse Hotline

Washington, D.C. — U.S. Senators Susan Collins (R-ME) and Kyrsten Sinema (D-AZ) introduced the National Child Abuse Help Hotline Act of 2020, a bipartisan bill that would give Administration for Children and Families (ACF) the authority to award $1 million annually to a nonprofit entity to support a 24-hour, national, toll-free telephone hotline that would provide information and assistance to victims of child abuse or neglect, parents, caregivers, mandated reporters, and other concerned community members.
