Collins, Bennet Introduce Legislation to Make Election Grants More Accessible to States

Washington, D.C. – U.S. Senators Susan Collins (R-ME) and Michael Bennet (D-CO) introduced the State Elections Preparedness Act to allow the Election Assistance Commission (EAC) to waive a requirement that states provide a 20 percent match for the $400 million in election assistance grants if circumstances related to the COVID-19 pandemic prevent them from providing this match.  This grant funding was included in the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act enacted in March.



Senator Collins, Congresswoman Pingree Urge Swift Disbursement of Relief to Maine Fishing Industry

WASHINGTON, D.C.—Senator Susan Collins and Congresswoman Chellie Pingree today wrote to Maine Department of Marine Resources (DMR) Commissioner Patrick Keliher, advocating for swift allocation of the more than $20 million Maine received through the CARES Act for fishing industry relief. The lawmakers encouraged DMR to quickly develop a plan for how the funding would be allocated in the state.


Collins, King Back Bipartisan Bill to Support, Assist Identity Theft Victims

WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Senators Susan Collins (R-Maine) and Angus King (I-Maine) joined a bipartisan group of colleagues to introduce the Improving Social Security’s Service to Victims of Identity Theft Act. The legislation would create a single point of contact at the Social Security Administration (SSA) for identity theft issues, cutting red tape and making it easier for victims to resolve their cases.
