Collins, King Announce Grant Funding For Maine Fire Services

     WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Senators Susan Collins and Angus King today announced that the Maine Fire Services Institute in South Portland will receive a Staffing for Adequate Fire and Emergency Response (SAFER) grant in the amount of $434,783 to purchase a live fire training trailer.  These trailers provide for crucial fire simulation exercises that help to prepare and train firefighters.   


Helping America’s Homeless Youth

This month, U.S. Housing and Urban Development (HUD) Secretary Julián Castro accepted my invitation to travel to Maine to see firsthand how organizations in our state tackle the very important issue of runaway and youth homelessness. I have worked closely with Secretary Castro on a number of issues, and he has been a willing and eager partner in our work together to prevent and end youth homelessness nationwide.


Senate Appropriations Committee Approves Important, Targeted Investments For Law Enforcement

WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Senator Susan Collins announced today that the Senate Appropriations Committee, on which she serves, has approved significant resources for law enforcement as part of the Fiscal Year 2016 Commerce, Justice, Science, and Related Agencies Appropriations Bill. The bill must now be considered by the full Senate.

Senator Collins Announces Senate Appropriations Committee Approval Of $1 Billion Toward Additional Destroyer

WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Senator Susan Collins announced today that the Senate Appropriations Committee has approved $1 billion toward the construction of an additional DDG-51 destroyer.  The funding is part of the 2016 Defense Appropriations Bill which must now be considered by the full Senate.  If the funding bill becomes law, the additional destroyer would likely be built at Bath Iron Works.  


U.S. Secretary Of Housing And Urban Development Joins Senator Collins In Maine

WASHINGTON, D.C. –At the invitation of U.S. Senator Susan Collins, the U.S. Secretary of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), Julián Castro, spent the day in Maine.

This afternoon, Senator Collins and Secretary Castro toured the New Beginnings’ Ann Geiger Center in Lewiston to see firsthand how organizations in Maine are working to end runaway and youth homelessness.
