Senator Collins Announces More than $600,000 Grant for Washburn & Doughty Associates, Inc.

Washington, D.C. - U.S. Senator Susan Collins (R-ME), the Chairman of the Transportation Appropriations Subcommittee, announced that Washburn & Doughty Associates, Inc., of East Boothbay has been awarded $618,750 through the Department of Transportation’s Maritime Administration’s (MARAD) Small Shipyard Grant Program.  This funding will assist Washburn & Doughty in purchasing and installing a new lathe and robotic welding machine.

Senator Collins Announces Nearly $700,000 for Front Street Shipyard in Belfast

Washington, D.C. – U.S. Senator Susan Collins (R-ME), the Chairman of the Transportation Appropriations Subcommittee, announced today that Front Street Shipyard in Belfast has been awarded $667,028 through the Department of Transportation’s Maritime Administration’s (MARAD) Small Shipyard Grant Program.  This funding will assist Front Street Shipyard in purchasing and installing a new waterjet cutting machine on its premises to construct modern, lightweight carbon fiber ferries.

Senator Collins’ Statement on Administration Examining Drug Importation to Lower Prescription Drug Prices

Washington, D.C. - U.S. Senator Susan Collins issued this statement following today’s announcement by the Administration that it is exploring how to safely import prescription drugs from other countries in the event of a dramatic price increase for a drug produced by one manufacturer and not protected by a patent.  Department of Health and Human Services Secretary Alex Azar asked Food and Drug Administration Commissioner Scott Gottlieb to establish a working group on this topic.
